UKRI Global Explorers Grant

Mar 10, 2024 | News

We have been awarded the UKRI Global Explorers grant!!
Global Explorers is an Innovate UK programme designed to support individual UK SMEs to explore global R&D and innovation opportunities to accelerate the development of their innovative ideas, products and services and global market access. The grant is targeted at ambitious innovative businesses that have the capability to grow and scale, including through global innovation collaboration and building partnerships.

We are excited to use this support to continue exploring circular solutions for textile waste. With new legislation coming into effect within Europe but also globally to address over-consumption and over-production (such as the European Green Deal and Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles) our goal is to develop data-based and applied biotechnological solutions that directly address the prevention of waste.
We will be working closely together with CIIMARCunha & Ribeiro Lda and the Polytechnic Institute of Porto with an amazing inter-disciplinary team of scientists, textiles manufacturers and waste management operators. We’re looking forward to seeing you all in Portugal soon – Fatima Carvalho, Marisa FreitasDiogo AlexandrinoLiliana Almeida, Rui Oliveira and Nuno Ribeiro.
